Grant Process
The Cold Spring Harbor Educational Foundation provides grants to support innovative and enriching programs that enhance the educational experience within the Cold Spring Harbor School District. These grants are specifically designed to fund initiatives that fall outside the scope of the school budget, ensuring students have access to opportunities that might not otherwise be possible. By funding these initiatives, The Foundation aims to maintain Cold Spring Harbor's status as an elite school district, recognized for its commitment to excellence in education.
How It Works
All current and active Educators and Administrators in the Cold Spring Harbor School District are eligible to apply for Grants.
Potential Grantees must first request and fill out a Preliminary Grant Application. This form can be obtained from your building Principal, a District Administrator or the Superintendent of Schools.
Once the Preliminary Grant Application has been filled out, you must submit it to your building Principal, Department Head and Superintendent of Schools for approval.
Upon approval of the Preliminary Grant Application, you can request a Final Grant Application which allows for comprehensive information, cost estimates and the timeline of your Grant request. The more detailed the application the better! Be sure to include links to any websites for the specific items you are requesting or links to data on the benefits and educational impact your request has on a student's academic experience and achievement.
Grantees will submit their Final Application to the CSH Ed Foundation Board President(s). The President(s) will review the application to ensure that it has all of the information necessary to be reviewed and voted on by the full Ed Foundation Board of Directors. They may reach out to ask additional questions on your application or to request a meeting/presentation of your Grant request.
The Board of Directors carefully reviews each application to ensure alignment with district goals and potential to positively impact the student body. Grant decisions are made based on factors such as innovation, feasibility and budget, impact on the schools, number of students served, and the potential to enhance student achievement. We also assess whether partial funding is an option, or whether support from other community organizations is possibile to maximize the number of Grants approved.
Once the Board of Directors has approved a Grant proposal, it is sent to the Board of Education for final acceptance. The timeline of a Grant from start to finish can take 2-4 months so we ask applicants to be mindful of the timing of their requests. We meet as a Board the last Tuesday of each month with the exception of December and July; months in which we do not meet. Please aim to have your Grants submitted by the second week of the month to ensure timely deliberation by the Board.
The Ed Foundation values collaboration and encourages applicants to work with colleagues or departments to maximize the scope and impact of their projects. Proposals are accepted throughout the year, and applicants will receive timely feedback and decisions regarding their submissions.
